Cheat Fixed + New High Score Possible!

Player 'arkady' found a cheat to the game and he was honest enough to report it and help us fix it. Unfortunately the cheat resulted in some entries to the "Hall of Fame" being deleted, so we had to use some old scores to fill up the list. The top 3 positions were rescued and are correct. This work resulted in us finding an elusive bug. Some players reported of an error when their score passed 2 billion. We couldn't find the problem in the code, but now it turns out that the database was the cause of the problem. This has now been fixed so we hope to see some 2 billion+ scores on the list soon!

We also changed the Shipyard so that it is easier to buy many extra cargo bays. For example you can now select to buy 500 new cargo bays all at once instead of having to buy 25 cargo bays 20 times.

The missing closing CENTER tag bug reported by L.T. is also fixed.

Since I wrote the game in 2001 more than 9000 players have registered and the weekly high score list (reset every Sunday) is always full. I had no idea how popular this game would be when I spent 2 days trying to see if one could build a game in pure HTML using ASP 3 years ago.

Since 2001 there haven't really been any way for the players to provide feedback or get in touch with me and I hope this blog will solve that. Any feedback is welcome, but don't expect miracles as I run this game for fun only. I am however tinkering with a Flash version of the game that will add some new features and improve game speed. The game costs a bit to host ($10/month + the domain name fees) that I have so far paid out of my own pocket. (Got one donation for $10 once.) I am therefore playing with the idea to let the new Flash version have some extra features/levels/ships/extra ticks (haven't decided yet) that will only be available to members for a small fee. Hopefully that will be enough to pay for hosting and a few beers now and then :-)
